Perspectives

  1. What are perspectives?

    Dave's working model

Perspectives are angles from which we make sense of reality: filters shaped by a person's experience, goals, assumptions, and situation. Yawn can be a perspectives container because it gives those standpoints an address, makes their relationships visible, and lets us inspect and revise them.

    Governing inquiry · fixed first

This question orients the model. Reading activity cannot displace it.

  2. How does a perspective connect to an agent?

Ask who is looking, from where, with what information, and toward what purpose. A parent, a player, a researcher, and an AI may attend to different parts of the same situation. Naming the standpoint helps us understand an answer without treating it as a view from nowhere.

  3. How should perspectives be organized or ranked?

Proposed method · open to revision

Start with the question we are trying to answer. Make each perspective's assumptions, expectations, sources, and limits explicit, then compare what it helps us notice or predict. A perspective can be meaningful without every claim it contains being equally supported. Relevance to a purpose and evidence for a claim are different axes.

    How is this answer supported?

Reading counts and relevance buttons can organize attention. They do not establish truth or superiority. A perspective also includes values and interpretations that may not be straightforward predictions.

  4. How does this relate to prediction, brain networks, and consciousness?

    Questions to investigate

I am exploring the idea that we anticipate situations, notice errors or habitual patterns, and sometimes find an opening to respond differently. I also proposed a relationship between the default mode network, executive function, and consciousness. That mapping remains an open hypothesis; consciousness is not established as identical to a single named network.

    How is this answer supported?

A preregistered study of conscious visual experience challenged important predictions of two prominent consciousness theories. It does not settle what consciousness is or validate my proposed mapping.

  5. Does this mean reality is a super-intelligent program?

Dave's philosophical possibility · not an established fact

That is one perspective I want to explore. Code, levels, loops, and reprogramming give me a way to describe experience and possible change. The usefulness of those metaphors does not establish that reality is literally software, that we occupy a hidden level, or that physical time travel has occurred. I can keep the possibility in the model while asking what evidence could distinguish it from alternatives.

  6. Why do I want to find and share perspectives?

    Dave's stated mission

I want to help people learn what I have learned, while leaving room for their own curiosity. Teaching my children makes that purpose vivid: they can encounter questions and ideas earlier than I did. What matters is helping another person develop their own understanding, compare perspectives, and keep discovering.

A container can carry selected context into another conversation. Ask the recipient what they understood and give them room to disagree. An AI still needs actual access and retrieval to use the model again.

  7. What should remain visible as a gap?

Whose perspective is absent? What is private? What have I inferred? What prediction failed? What would change my mind? This is my current model, with room for another person to build a different one. The private source and public expression remain separately provisioned.
